In part 3 of 4, Steven and Jeff take a look at the NFC East and NFC North, talking Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, Redskins, Bears, Lions, Packers and Vikings.

In NFL News, the guys wonder what the Titans are doing placing RB Chris Johnson in the Reserved/Did Not Show list instead of signing him to a huge contact. Plus Bengals RB Cedric Benson will serve 20 days in a Texas Jail starting in October forcing him to miss a couple of Bengals games.

When looking at the East, Jeff surprisingly has the Cowboys winning the division and the Eagles in second. Jeff cannot believe the Eagles hype and is not sure they even make the playoffs. Jeff and Steven agree that the Giants and Redskins will bring up the rear.

In the North, both guys have the Packers on top and Steven guarantees that not only will the Bears not win the division this year, they will not even make the playoffs. The guys disagree on how many wins the Lions and Vikings will get. Steven is high on the Vikings and low on the Lions while Jeff has it the other way around.

In the second out of a series of four, the guys take a look at the AFC South & West and take a look at all eight teams in the two divisions.

In looking at the Texans, Colts, Jaguars and Titans, the guys disagree on who will be on top. Steven still believes this division belongs to the Colts, while Jeff believes this is the year the Colts begin their slide into obscurity and will finish with less than double digit wins. Although Steven agrees that the Colts will start slow, especially without Peyton Manning, he believes they are still a 10-11 win team and Steven also guarantees that the Texans will make the playoffs as a wild card team. Both guys agree that the Jaguars will struggle and that without RB Chris Johnson, the Titans will be hard pressed to win many games.

In the AFC West, the guys feel that Philip Rivers and the Chargers must start out better to reclaim control of the division and agree they appear to be the best team in the West. Jeff is pretty hard on the Broncos, as he puts the Raiders in third place, but Steven says the Raiders will end up in the cellar of the West again. While both guys agree the Chiefs are almost ready to take the next step, their 1st place schedule will make it tough on them to repeat.

The AFC East & North Assessment is the first in a series of four where the guys take a look at all 32 teams division by division.

Steven and Jeff take a look at the Bills, Dolphins, Jets and Patriots and both agree that the Bills are looking rather anemic while the Jets and Patriots are the clear favorites in the division. Jeff sees the Patriots with the same record as last year as long as QB Tom Brady can stay healthy, while Steven thinks the addition of Plaxico Burress and by featuring RB Shonn Greene, the Jets are primed to win the division.

While talking about the AFC North both guys feel the Bengals are outclassed and will bring up the rear, while Steven thinks that Colt McCoy and the Browns can post double digit wins. Jeff doesn’t think the Browns are that ready, and believes the Steelers remain on top of the division. Steven says the Ravens will be tough but just can’t get on their bandwagon because they are not sexy.

Preseason Week 1 is in the books and Steven and Jeff discuss the rule changes that have everyone up in arms. The Denver Broncos have bigger problems than their QB controversy as starting defensive tackle Marcus Thomas has a strained pectoral muscle and the other starting defensive tackle Ty Warren has a tear in his triceps and could be lost for the season.

The Jets are “Ship All Banged Up” as backup center Rob Turner suffered a broken leg and Joe McKnight suffered a concussion in the 20-16 loss to the Houston Texans. Steven asks Jeff if Mark Sanchez the guy and the guys disagree on the answer. They also discuss the issue of Ndamukong Suh and whether he is a dirty player or not.

Steven is impressed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is bound to take credit for Raheem Morris calling his team is Youngry. Mike Shanahan is at it again, this time swapping QBs as he said that John Beck will start Friday’s game at Indianapolis over Rex Grossman. Channing Crowder has some harsh words about QB Chad Henne and Steven agrees.

Plus, the 49ers bring in Daunte Culpepper for a work out and Lovie Smith and the Chicago Bears show a blatant disregard for the new kick-off rules.
