Welcome to Thursday Night Football every week until Week 17! The guys are excited and with TNF just a few hours away, the guys get you ready for Week 2 in the NFL. Jeff and Steven briefly touch upon the Commish meeting with the four players involved with the bounty suspensions and Jonathan Vilma requesting a one-on-one meeting. Listen to Jeff’s reason for that request from Vilma.
The guys get you ready for the early game, warning you of Fantasy Football moves that should be made prior to the first game of the week. Then they take a look at the games and start out agreeing that Green Bay should win the game over the Bears as the home team. Too much to ask of the Bears to go on the road on a short week against a divisional rival.
In looking at the other 15 games on the schedule, the guys only disagree on three games. Steven likes the Vikings over the Colts, the Panthers to beat the Saints and the Falcons to drop Peyton Manning and the Broncos on Monday Night Football while Jeff thinks the Andrew Luck will find a way to give the Colts their first win and sees the Saints and Broncos winning on the road. Should be an interesting Week 2 in the NFL.
I had the Pats, Giants and Texans on my card (and almost the Cowboys)
I`ve added the Ravens. William Hill Online (UK) has Ravens (to win) at 21/20. I`ve wagered £10.00 and hope to get my stake plus £10.50 back. Fingers crossed! It will certainly spice up the game. (As a Steeler fan it would almost be worth losing the tenner to see the `dirty birds` crushed).
I feel like a bit of traitor though as I`ve just introduced my 10 year old nephew to the game and he`s chosen the Eagles (because he likes the colours and “the wings on their hats”). Cest la vie!
What a great weekend – if you`re a bookie!
a) I`m done with the Saint`s. I don`t care who they`re playing, I`m not touching them again.
b) The Cardinals? The freaking CARDINALS hand Brady his first home-opener-loss (in at least ten years).
c) Poor old Steven. That Cowboys game must have been painful to do commentary on (and he switched to the Jets).
d) Thanks to Eli for a superhuman effort that keeps me in the Survivor game.
e) The Ravens lose to the Ref`s and I lose my tenner – but that`s okay – my nephew (the NFL newb who has chosen the Eagles) is happy and thinks all these 1-point-wins are exciting.
Silver lining for me: My Steelers won and the Ravens didn`t.
It’s only week 2, but the NFC West has more wins than any other division in the NFL. The Niners won in Green Bay, and now the Cardinals won in Gillette Stadium, handing the Patriots their first home-opening loss in 11 years, and the first home-game ever where Tom Brady threw for only one touchdown. And the Rams and Seahawks beat beat the Skins and Cowboys respectively, who last week looked good, if not great.
In week three, the Niners play the Vikes, the Rams go to Chicago, the Cardinals host the Eagles, and the Seahawks host the Packers. If the NFC West goes 3 – 1 in those games, or better, it will make it easier to make the case that the NFC Worst has become the NFC’s Best.
