As we get ready to record our next episode, where we will finish breaking down the first round of the draft, I thought it would be fun to get listener’s takes on which free agent QBs would make most sense for a particular team. Discuss amongst yourselves…
D-Nabb to ‘Zona
D-Nabb to Vikings….that actually scares me
Rex Grossman is out there, great 2 minute drill operator
Kevin Kolb might be out there. They will need someone behind Vick as he might be Italian
I think Hasselbeck will stay in Seattle. They want to keep him and he won’t go. Seattle is his (family) home. Maybe they bring in Vince Young as well.
The idea that the Cardinals or the Vikings are a QB from getting back to recent former glory. To me its tough it out with the young guys and give them the tools to develop. More important than having a good QB is the idea of having a good team around whoever is at that position. Once you have a team assembled the QB is the cherry on top of the icing on top of the chocolate cake (now im hungry thanks). The Ravens didn’t need a QB and that may be the exception that breaks the rule but the only QB to ever win a Superbowl by himself was Tom Brady. And he had an solid defense behind him. Leave the notion that you need a QB to win. You need a team to win, and it doesn’t start at the QB it starts with a team that can make anyone look good.
Who knows if this is really going to happen, but the talk around Buffalo (and, I mean, from the Bills’ front office/coaching staff) is that they will bring in two more QBs, one being an experienced veteran. McNabb has been mentioned in the past… some like the idea of a trade for Kolb… if Hasslebeck was available, that would be interesting. Fitzpatrick is apparently a lock as the starter, so whomever is brought in will take a back seat. Is Todd Collins still out there??? (Former Buffalo Bills draft pick….) :)
But… are they even going to play football?
I could see ‘Zona targetting Hasselbeck or even trading for Palmer. Either way, Fitz will be sure to let them know that he needs someone to throw him the ball! Plus both these vets would be great people for Hall or Skelton to sit behind for a few years and learn the game, till they are ready to become starters.
And maybe if Hasselbeck leaves Seattle, the Hawks make a play to sign Palmer? Reunite him with Carroll.
Vince Young or Tavaris Jackson to Carolina would be a great move for the Panthers. I don’t think it’s the best idea to have you’re young #1 and #2 QB’s playing entirely different games.
Also, something in my gut says the Skins will trade for Kyle Orton… I think he deserves to be a starting QB. And they really can’t be sold on Beck… Can they?
I think Kerry Collins would be a good backup for Ponder in Minnesota. And Bulger for Locker in Tennessee.
I think Smith will stay in San Fran ands Grossman… maybe Detroit as a backup for Stafford.
