He’s wearing what?
Take a good long look. That’s right, it’s Donovan McNabb in his Redskins uniform and I am sure I am not alone when I say that this is going to take some time to get used to this picture. McNabb Photos courtesy of Redskins Blog.
Sometimes it’s just not right when a franchise player leaves a team to continue playing elsewhere. Here are a few Hall of Fame players I never got used to wearing a different uniform.
Emmit Smith from Cowboys to Cardinals
Jerry Rice from 49ers to Raiders
Joe Montana from 49ers to Chiefs
What about the infamous Favre?
I thought about adding Favre, but he is not a Hall of Famer… YET!
Being a Cowboys fan the Emmit pictures make me sad.
McNabb in a skin uniform looks sooo odd, gna be having nightmares about this now, sad times :(
Nice blog Steven ;-) I agree with McNabb’s sentiment in the last pic, I sure hope the offensive line holds up as well!!! The next Skins news I want to hear is either, “with the #4 pick in the NFL draft, the Washington Redskins select Russell Okung from Oklahoma State University” or ” the Redskins today announced they have traded to Albert Haynesworth to _______ for ______.”
Also, if you look at the field in the first pic, it appears to be the old school, green concrete turf. With all of his money, Snyder really should put in some state of the art fields at Redskins Park. It made big news when Shanahan and Allen took over that the Skins re-painted the weight room. Many Redskins talk about how they came from college programs that had better facilities than the Skins do. I don’t get that. That’s one area I can’t fault Jerry Jones in, he makes sure the Cowboys have the very best of everything.
i agree with Jeremy, as a Cowboys fan, looking at Emmitt Smith in a Cards outfit makes me sick to the stomach.
I agree being a big Vikings fan what about number 4.
Nice angle for a good post, Steven. You should do this for living :-)
I’ll tell you what looks wrong with the photos of No 5, though. In none of them is he flat on his back or running for his life!! I hope they have some drills for that….and plenty of tape for the poor chaps’s ribs.
That is going to take a very long time to get used to… Its just too weird.
This isn’t the first time an iconic figure in the NFL has come to DC at the end of his career. Most people don’t realize that Vince Lombardi coached the Redskins in 1969. He became ill just before training camp of the 1970 season, and passed away before he could coach his second season in DC.
Like steven and jeff said on the show, Good thing mcnabb didn’t go to, FOOTBALL PURGATORY!!!!!!!
Then it would be downhill from there.
But Jerry Rice went there. Always an upside.
I hope McNabb makes life miserable for the Eagles from now until the end of his career…
Can’t wait to see McNabb in action for the Skins. Definitely can’t wait for the first game against the Eagles.
I love the comment on the Facebook page that according to guys who watch a LOT of tape, Reid and the staff had a perfect plan for the Week 17 game at Dallas, but McNabb couldn’t execute it and that’s why he had to go. On that basis we’re also going to be trading both lines, the secondary, a couple of wideouts and the kicker…. I suppose they’ve made a start.
The ‘Boys OWNED us last year. And none of the 3 games was solely on McNabb. Which is probably why the Eagles didn’t send him to Oakland :-)
Wish we did get McNabb, from an Oakland viewpoint we could have had a top 10 QB for less than a 1st round pick. Compared to Gradkowski or whatever QB we draft, he would have been a massive upgrade. I’m now hoping we get Campbell, our offense will suit him and Al loves a cannon arm QB.
PS Jerry Rice played great for Oakland, we reached a super bowl with him and he enjoyed playing for us.
I really liked the Eagles in the past but now i just can’t cheer for them anymore. It was great fun to watch them, especially McNabb, Westbrook and Dawkins. I am sure this trade will go in the NFL history books as one if not the most stupid of all times for the Eagles. But with them all gone i think the Eagles ship will go down fast this upcomig season. I think Eagles fans in Philly will find out then what they had with McNabb. I really don’t like the Skins at all but i’m looking forward for the 2 divisional games that must feel like “Superbowls” for McNabb.
Other than that, look out for the J.E.T.S. Jets Jets Jets1
I am a cowboys fan and all I got to say is that if we could beat McNaab three times when he was with the Eagles (a much better team than the skins)….. we gonna smoke the Deadsikins both times this year. But I am rooting for him to beat the Eagles.
That is really a strange sight to behold. Who would have thought that at the end of last year?
I will hate the day Brady leaves New England. I hope it never happens
