TGIT! Thank God It’s Thursday! Thursday night football on NFL Network returns tonight and motors down the 5 freeway to San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium! The Oakland Raiders are coming to town and are seeking to find their swagger again and reach for the division lead. Both QBs will be under the microscope as Carson Palmer and Phillip Rivers need to step it up in a big way. The biggest problem for the Chargers might be the overwhelming sea of Silver and Black which is expected to head down to San Diego… only in California.
Just yesterday we were waiving much deserved goodbye to Albert Haynesworth. Well, a lot can happen in 24 hours and Tampa Bay is now saying hello to the Big Guy. They wanted him before Haynesworth settled for less money to go to a “better situation.” GM Mark Domenik is rolling the dice here. My question for the GM is, is he undermining what Raheem Morris is trying to do. Domenik says, “He does have history, of course. But at the end of the day, you talk to anyone in the NFL, week-to-week, and you know you can be the hero one week, and be the villain the next. It’s tough for any player under that scrutiny. But that’s the nature of our business. He’s gonna have a shorter leash, but if he’s prepared and ready to play, he’ll play.”
Rex Ryan is back to his old loud self and is urging Jets fans to “make it miserable” for the New England Patriots at this weekend’s game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. “That’s a challenge I’m taking to our fans this week. We’re here, we’re undefeated at home and let’s make it miserable.” People may remember that back in 2009, Rex gave the fans a “Game Ball” after they beat the Pats. Good luck Rex.
