Week 1 is over and the NFL started with a bang. Steven and Jeff take a look at all 16 games from Week 1. From the Cowboys upset over the Giants on Opening Day, to the most points scored on an opening weekend in the NFL, ever!
Steven calls Jeff out for bullying him into not picking the Cowboys game as the Challenge Game and winds up losing with the Steelers, another pick change. The guys discuss the problems with the Eagles and Browns as both teams were turning the ball over like it was going out of style. As they go over the games, Jeff calls out Titans RB Chris Johnson and Steven gets a special dedication which prompts him to give a certain QB from DC some love.
Finally, the guys are joined by the biggest name in comdey, Costaki Economopoulos! Costaki has some timely football jokes regarding Tim Tebow, the Browns, the Jaguars and Bill Clinton. Check him out at costaki.com
Gentlemen, faceguarding has been legal in the NFL for several years already. As long as you don’t make contact, you don’t have to turn around.
I think I`ve fallen in love – with the “Coaches Film” feature on Game Pass. Wow. I`ve been watching the NFL since 1982 here in the UK and FINALLY I can appreciate the importance of what the lines do. I can see the gaps being opened and can judge for myself whether an RB is a frontside runner or a cutback runner. I can see at a glance what personnel the `O` is running (which I often have trouble with from the side-on view). I can see the defensive players “flashing the hat”. I can do what Manning does (count the numbers in the box and run or pass to where the mismatch is [and Polamalu isn`t])
It`s an absolutely GREAT function for recapping a game a couple of days after watching the Game Day coverage. I cannot reccomend it highly enough and the only way to improve it (IMHO) would be to add the field mics so we can hear all the play calling, audibles and Mike-LB shouts. (The expletives would just spice it up for me and be a welcome change from the inanities of the usual coverage [Baldinger, Collingsworth and a couple of others excepted]).
No offense and it might just be me, but I’m under the impression that you guys talk pretty loudly these days. Were you just that excited about week 1 or is that the norm?
Can you guys warn us in advance when we are going to have a shouty podcast?
Just scared the crap out of a woman on the train sitting near me.
