The guys are way excited for Week 3 and can’t wait for the “Way to Proud of Texas Guys!” game of the week between the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys. But first, Steven and Jeff cover the NFL News, as Andy Reid goes with Mike Vick over Kevin Kolb at QB, Vincent Jackson’s full house lost to A.J. Smith and the Chargers 4 of a kind and does not get traded and Tampa Bay safety Tanard Jackson gets suspended for the year for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.
The guys discuss all 16 games on the slate for Week 3 and differ on a season high 4 games. Jeff feels the 49ers will struggle on the road again, while Steven feels that Arrowhead is not what it used to be and likes the 49ers to beat the Chiefs. Steven likes San Diego to continue its winning ways even without RB Ryan Matthews while Jeff thinks the 12th man will help Seattle stop the Bolts. The guys love the Sunday Night Football game and Jeff likes the Dolphins defense to stop QB Mark Sanchez and the Jets while Steven thinks the Jets will hand the Dolphins their first loss of the season.
Finally, in the “Way to Proud of Texas Guys!” Bowl, Jeff can’t help but take his Texans while Steven lays out some compelling reason to not discount the Cowboys. Steven is so confident in the outcome, that he makes this the Challenge Game as he takes Dallas and Jeff takes Houston. Steven’s two guarantees for Week 3 involve the Bengals and Cowboys.
grammatical error – should be, “Way too Proud of Texas Guys!”
Ya’ll (way too proud of Texas guys) are wrong about the Bears again. Here’s why…
1) The Bears were Lucky? – Sorry guys, the Bears were not lucky to beat the Cowboys. Actually the Cowboys were lucky to be in that game at all. The Bears have a good special teams unit, and the Cowboys got a lucky punt return. With out that 7 points, that game would have looked WAY more lopsided.
2) The highest rated passer in the NFL is playing. And his name is not Aaron Rogers.
3) Monsters of the Midway are back. The Bears have the second best D in the league. You people think the turnovers were “lucky”, but since Lovie has been in Chicago the Bears have gotten more turnovers than any other team; that is not luck. Clay Matthews is a bad man, but if the Bears can out scheme Ware then they can out scheme Matthews.
4) Running game. The Packers don’t have one, and the Bears running game is going to show up. This is going to mean the Packers are going to be one dimensional and the Bears won’t be. Look for play action in the third quarter to put the Bears up for good.
5) Soldier Field will be ROCKIN. The city of Chicago LOVES it’s Bears when they are winning, and they hate them some Packers.
woh guys whats up with beating down the dolphins any chance you get? Mike nolan has upgraded our d just by his mere presence. You guys take your blinkers off for once and maybe you can see what a great job is happening in southern florida, albeit slow. As for the jets, they got lucky last season and wont be this. We beat them twice with a sub par team (ted ginn), and they only got in the playoffs cause they played teams who had slowed up (colts) and put in their back ups. Come on guy show us some r.e.s.p.e.c.t. Thanks love the show.
Guys, I think you’re consistently a bit too hard on the Panthers. Look, I’m not saying we’re a playoff contender by any means, but for Jeff to say “this team is a mess right now” is taking it a bit too far. There is a lot of talent on this team. Certainly we have a lot of work to do offensively – specifically protecting the passer and more effectively running the ball – but don’t be too quick to throw this team to the trash pile. We’ll endure some losses this year because of Jimmy Clausen starting and him taking his lumps, but I can tell you with confidence that this team is not a mess.
Steven,
I do not get why you underestimate the Packers so much.
Jeff called you out on that and you answered: no, no! I just dont think “right now, they are good enough”.
And now you say that the Steelers right now are better than the Packers? No way. Both defenses are pretty good (though the Steelers’ is better), but come on – look at the Packers offense.
The Steelers D wouldnt be able to stop them for a whole game. A Rod is too smart and look at the weapons – Driver, Jennings, Finley.
I am not a Packers homer, I dont even pull for them – but they are just pretty pretty good so far.
