Since they are spreading the draft over the course of three days, April 22 – April 24, the NFL decided to increase the number of players they invited to attend the draft. This year, 16 college players/future NFL stars will be in attendance. The projected top three picks, QB Sam Bradford, DT Ndamukong Suh and DL Gerald McCoy have all accepted invitations and will all be there.
The following is a list of other players accepting the NFL’s invitation to attend the draft:
RB C.J. Spiller, Clemson
RB Jahvid Best, Cal
CB Joe Haden, Florida
CB Brandon Ghee, Wake Forest
OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma State
OT Bryan Bulaga, Iowa
OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma
DT Lamarr Houston, Texas
DT Jared Odrick, Penn State
DT Dan Williams, Tennessee
DE Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech
WR Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech
S Eric Berry, Tennessee.
So many players attending this year! It’s crazy! Jahvid Best (for example) probably will not even go in the 1st Round. Nonetheless, this is going to be a great draft.
Haha, poor Jimmy Clausen. Also interesting to see that Best got an invite over Matthews, who i see as a better RB prospect.
Brandon Ghee and Lamarr Houston??? I have Houston as my 8TH DT behind Suh, McCoy, Williams, Price, Odrick, Cody and Alualu. With the only the 1st round on Thursday I’m pretty sure some players are gonna be left in the green room for more than 24 hours.
Where’s the Mock Drafts then boys? 1-32! Steven v Jeff challenge! come on i dare ya!
What would be sad/ironic/funny is if any of these players lasted into day two or day three.
I am pretty sure that some of the guys will be there for day 2. Not so much for day 3 though.
As a Raiders fan, the draft scares the bejesus out of me. Our 1st round picks in recent years have had all the success of a drunk trying to jump the Grand Canyon, we have drafted some awful players. This overshadows the fact in late rounds we actually draft quite well. I await another rotten 1st round selection, then more jokes about Al’s lack of hair, senility, judgement and skin care lotion
Jack, you should wait until you hear the show we recorded today. Lots of fun discussing the Raiders draft needs.
Maybe the raiders will take tebow with their pick.
Good group of players; there’s two or three second-rounders in there as well. According to the NFL, it’s supposed to make the second day of the draft a bit more interesting.
@Monk – Clausen was invited but chose to decline.

I’m a big Rams fan myself and our drafting over the past couple of years has been horrible.
Players such as Chris Long, Ty Hill and Jason Smith have failed to make major impacts. Our only good drafts of the past 10/11 years have been the 2004 drafting of Steven Jackson or the 1999 drafting of Torry Holt.
I’d love to see us take Sam Bradford 1st round and then see if we cant get a linebacker second round. As the Rams have the 33rd pick overall they may be able to make a steal if anybody drops out of that 1st round.
On the whole, I am concerned. This season may be the season in which the Rams contest for that 3rd place slot in the NFC West. Every day that possibility seems to become more and more impossible as the Rams continue to do nothing to sign free agents that will be good enough to start for us.
Looks like I’m going to have to listen to my beloved team get called “the Lambs” for another season.
Lewis =[
Seriously, look out for us drafting CJ Spiller. We don’t need a RB in the early rounds, but according to a forum I frequent the Raiders are interested. Also Bruce Campbell and Jason Pierre-Paul, both workout warriors who aren’t really proven could well be selected.
Does the brandon marshall trade mean that miami could get something in the late rounds for ted ginn jr?
Oakland are quality at the draft…. at the draft…. at the draft….
*Dream bubble* “with the 7th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, The Oakland Raiders select Darrius Heyward-Bey (Crowd Boos and fanfare)”
God I love it when Jeff plays that!
@Preston267 Thanks mate, were there any other players that declined?
Simple Question to be answered perlease. If a player lasts into the thrid day (Brandon Ghee) does the League pay for him to stay in NY for an extra night? This offically makes the NFL boobs, big ol’ boobs. I mean come on Brandon Ghee, aare you kiddin me.
Any chance St Louis take two McCoys in the draft? Gerald first round, Colt second?
@ Monk – “We’re told that Clausen recently has decided not to attend, due to the fact that his grandfather, whose wife recently passed, was not able to make the trip to New York. So instead the Clausen family will congregate in Palm Springs, where his grandfather currently resides. ”
Good for Clausen for declining to be with his family. As for other players that declined, Tim Tebow is the only one I know of.
@ Richard Worgan – Brandon Ghee won’t make it out of the second round. Y’know the only receiver the NFL decided to draft, Demaryius Thomas? Ghee shut him down when GT played WF. He had a great Senior Bowl and had a fantastic Combine, measuring in at taller then his expected 5’11 (6’0) and ran a 4.37 40. He’s a real good prospect.
I haven’t finished the whole podcast from Saturday yet so if they figured this out then I am a boob but when talking about the 2007 draft Steven says that Gaines Adams is not a bust yet but he needs to start suring up that defense a little bit… The only problem with that is that he died January 7, 2010!!
