I took a break from writing in the blog since the end of last year’s football season, but boy, did I miss it. So much to say and no place to say it, except for on the show!
With football upon us and the 2006 season ready to start this Thursday, no better time to start than the present. Here are my top 10 questions for the upcoming season.
- How many times with the media try to create a story pitting Parcells against T.O. where there is not one?
- How many games will Big Ben Roethlisberger actually play in?
- Will the Colts win 13 straight again this year?
- Can the Seattle Seahawks break the Super Bowl Loser Curse and make the playoffs?
- Will the Chargers regret getting rid of Drew Brees?
- How quickly will the Houston Texans regret passing on Reggie Bush?
- Can the Eagles put last year’s disaster behind and get back to the playoffs?
- Will Brett Farve survive the entire season?
- Will Joe Buck ruin “Fox NFL Sunday” by trying to do too much with his hosting and play calling duties?
- Will ESPN’s trio of broadcasters, Tirico, Kornheiser and Theismann be around for season two next year?
Good luck with keeping up with the blog. sounds like you guys are too busy the way it is. Thanks for the great work on the podcast. It’s one of a few podcasts that I listen to EVERY week. You guys are on the same list as George Stephaonpoulos (ABC News: this week with George Stepanopoulos podcsast) and Leo LaPorte (TWiT – This Week in Tech podcast). Keep up the great work.
Tirico and Kornheiser are great. Theisman get on my nerves. I like how Kornheiser puts Theisman in his place every once in a while.
Question 5. Absolutely yes! They had a run at the end of the season, even toppling 13-0, but maybe his health made them release him…
I decided to take some time a answer your questions steven, see if you agree with em.
1. How many days are there in a football season?
2. 12-14
3. Well they should be 6-0 by week 8 before they have a real challenge against denver. They also have 5 give me against Buffalo, Philly, Tennessee, the Jags, and Houston. So That’s 11 games they should win, picking up 2 more should not be that difficult.
4. I would have said maybe, but they also have to deal with the Madden curse and that just means shawn is going to be injured soon.
5. yes, after Phillip Rivers realizes how fast people can blitz in a real NFL game.
6. The momment after the Houston GM sign Mario Williams as the #1 draft pick.
7. They can put the disaster behind them and end up with a better record but not make the play-offs.
8. Yes, but it may be as a quaterback for a team other than Green Bay. He may have been good if the team had spent some omeny a got say an offensive line or at least another reciever. But I think they skipped out on that since they can’t ask mr Favre to retire, so they just plan on having him killed apparently.
9. They cant really do much worse can they?
10. Yeah they are much better than when ABC tried something with Dennis Miller
I have a question for you and all the people who listen to your show: Who will be the worst team in the NFL, The Packers or the Raiders?
I like all of the answers, esp. #10. Dennis Miller was horrible on ABC.
Well I agree that Theismann is the weakest link with his comments.. I loved one from last year “I’ll tell u something, the team that’ll score more will most probably win the game!”.. but if he’s been with ESPN for the last 3 years.. I can’t see why the trio would change..
Don’t think the Chargers will do well.. I think they made a huge mistake with Brees..
As for the Texans, I think Steven and Jeff said it all.. there is no way Mario Williams will make an impact to their season as Reggie Bush would’ve.. and the comparison will always be made..
As for Jason’s question.. Well I’d say the Texans.. followed by the Bills.. the 49ers (my team).. the Packers and then the Raiders.. maybe the Lions will be there somewhere..
The question I couldn’t answer is the Seattle one.. Yes, Arizona have improved a lot.. but my head says the Seahawks should make the playoffs easily.. then the curses come into the equation.. and hmmmmmm.. :)
I know you guys like busting on the Texans passing up on Reggie Bush, but the way I see it (and I emailed you guys about this a couple months ago), what they SHOULD regret was that they tipped their hand and couldn’t actually trade down and still take Mario Williams. They could have gotten an extra 2nd round pick for that value.
Reggie Bush is over hyped. He’s a great athlete and could become a great NFL player, but he’s a rookie. He showed it in preseason. Good defenses will shut him down. The Texans should keep adding defensive talents like Williams and Offensive line help like Charles Spencer.
