The Good
For once, it’s the media.
The media has been good in how it has handled the tragic news of death of coach Tony Dungy’s son, James. So many times you see the media seek out, harass and hound an individual during these times.

Steven, Jeff and everyone at NFL Rants and Raves send their deepest sympathies to coach Tony Dungy, his wife Lauren and the entire Dungy family for the loss of James. God Bless you during these difficult times.

The Good Part II
Julius Jones erupts in Cowboys biggest game of the season!
Just when most folks in the great state of Texas had given up on Julius Jones, who they expected big things from this year, Julius shreds the Panther defense in Carolina. In a must win game for the Dallas Cowboys, Jones rushed for 194 yards and 2 TDs. He also added 17 yards on 2 receptions.

Sometimes we bury a player before he has a chance to develop. Jones is only in his second season and both seasons he has been injured for an extended amount of time. If he can stay healthy for 16 games, there is no telling what Julius Jones can do.

Jones might have single-handedly saved the Cowboys season.

The Bad
San Diego “Not so Super!” Loss to KC eliminates them from playoffs.
Just one week after knocking the Colts from the ranks of the undefeated San Diego lays an egg in Kansas City. Was it the brutal schedule? Did they become over confident after beating the Colts? Was it Larry Johnson exploiting the defense for 131 yards rushing and 48 yards receiving with 2 TDs?

Of course it was a combination of all those factors, however one cannot understand why in the biggest game of the season, Tomlinson could only muster 49 yards on 15 carries with 20 of those yards coming on one play. The Chargers are a good team, but starting the season 0-2 and eventually 3-3 was too much to overcome.

The Ugly
Oakland packs up and calls it a season.
The Raiders didn’t even show up to play against the Broncos. The only thing the Raiders managed to do in the entire game was score a 43 yard field goal with only 50 seconds left.

We know the Raiders are out of the playoffs, but they should be professional enough to show up and play the game hard.
