Jay Glazer of Fox Sports was first to report that the Seattle Seahawks traded WR Percy Harvin to the New York Jets. The Jets sent a conditional mid-round pick (later learned to be between a 2nd and 4th-round pick) to the Seahawks for the speedy wide receiver.

Steven’s Take:
This is probably the biggest move so far this season. Clearly the Jets feel that their season is not over and have decided to give quarterback Geno Smith a weapon on offense. Of course there is no guarantee that Harvin is going to help the Jets offense. He will clearly help Eric Decker as defenses will have another strong receiver to worry about, however I do not see Harvin succeeding in the Jets offensive system.
As far as Seattle is concerned, there are some reports that they have been trying to trade Harvin for a few weeks now and they clearly feel that his salary and his persona were not worth keeping around. Still it comes as a huge surprise since the Seahwaks traded away a first-rounder and two later-round picks to Minnesota just a season ago.
