According to Fox’s Jay Glazer, the Oakland Raiders are going to start rookie Derek Carr Week 1 against the New York Jets over veteran Matt Schaub.

Looks like the Raiders have already thrown in the towel this season. It was unlikely that the Raiders were going to be competitive in the AFC West with Schaub at QB, so why not give the rookie a chance to learn and show what he’s got? The Raiders need to find out if the second-round pick is a worthy starting quarterback. If he can lead the team this season and look competent, the Raiders will not have to go out and find a quarterback elsewhere. This could turn out to be a very good long-term move for the Raiders.
