The guys sit down to talk about their trip to New York and their three days at Radio City Music Hall and the 2012 NFL Draft, but first they talk about the three S names in NFL News. The Saints players finally get their punishments and Jonathan Vilma gets to miss the entire season. The Ravens get some bad news when they find out Terrell Suggs has a torn Achilles and will miss most of the season and the guys say good bye to Charger great, Junior Seau.
Steven and Jeff share some stories from the draft, and even share some stories from around New York City. Both guys get to the 9/11 Memorial and Steven talks about finally getting to Central Park and his afternoon wandering through the city.
Then after watching QBs Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III go one, two in the draft, the guys share the craziness of the most trades in the 1st round of an NFL Draft in league history. It was pretty crazy and the guys give you their thoughts on the entire 1st day.
I hate to be a pedantic annoying commenter, because I like your all’s podcast tremendously. However, I think you’ve left me no choice but to correct a few statements/misconceptions about my Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s really sad how little average fans know about my team.
1st) I heard you guys say the Jags have the worst defense in the league. So then I thought that maybe you guys accidentally misspoke. But then later in the podcast you went back to throw our defense under the bus again. But if you look, we had a top 6 defense, and would have been ranked even higher had we not lost about 5 CB’s, a safety, a LB, a DT and about 4 DE’s to injury, and we still finished just with less than 4 yards difference per game compared to the 49ers.
2nd) The Jaguars do not draft QB’s every year that bust. Jimmy Clausen was drafted by the Panthers, and not the Jags, like Steve said. In fact before Gabbert was drafted, the Jags had the longest streak of not drafting a QB in ANY round in the whole league, having not have drafted one, sans Gabbert, in 9 years!
3rd) As cool as it would be for a SoCal fan like me to have his team move to LA, it’s NOT going to happen; and for many reasons I don’t care to get into right now. Also, we haven’t had a blackout in years.
4th) We did not sign Vincent Jackson. That’s the Buccaneers. We did however sign a healthy Lee Evans and Laurent(Pronounced: LaRon) Robinson.
5th) You may not have heard of the Jags late round picks, but if you watch their film and read about them, you can see some real talent there. For instance, our 7th round pick is a DT with Dontari Poe workout numbers. Basically he’s a 335 pounder that runs a 4.8 40. Here’s his video: http://youtu.be/sHAavpx_uSA
6th) Make fun of the punter pick. But if you notice, anyone with real NFL front office experience thinks it’s a great pick. This article breaks down the pick and it’s potential impact. http://www.thefootballeducator.com/nfl-draft-2012-defending-the-anger-pick/
Recent and accomplished Eagles scout also said he was the best punter he had ever scouted and that most teams had a third round grade on him, and that a defensive team like the Jags could benefit from the pick even more than most teams.
It’s good that you find interest in your team…but when the jags get past over by Hard Knocks, for the Dolphins, who have only one thing going for them- Laura Tannehill, it tells me all I need to know about your team.
it seems to me that kids/people laughing and joking at ground zero is much more a testament to the strong will of the american people to overcome tragedy and continue with their lives than an insult to those who lost their lives. if i lost my life in the WTC on 9/11 i would much prefer that people who come to the site be jubilant and merry than remain solemn and silent for all time.
