Hugh Jackson finds himself off the hot seat and into the unemployment line today. The Oakland Raiders released him today and plan to announce shortly that Reggie McKenzie will be the first GM of the team. His job was to fire Jackson as word got out he was a bit power hungry after the passing of Al Davis. As they say, the best was to beat competition… is to fire them! The Raiders started this season at a healthy 7-4, but ended up a meager 8-8.
The guys are sad to report that the son of Offensive Coordinator, Joe Philbin, was found dead in a frozen river. Michael Philbin, 21, was reported missing 2am on Sunday. The team this game will certainly be playing with very heavy hearts as they recognize the great loss to one of their leaders. No foul play is expected, however that doesn’t lessen the impact of a parent having to outlive their child. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Philbin’s and the Packers.
NFLShop.com reports that they will no longer be selling Tebow jerseys. Lawsuit? Politics? Neither– they are just out of stock! That’s right, NFLShop.com, the official NFL online store has simply run out of jerseys of the latest playoff hero. What’s going on here! Tim Tebow gets some revenue from the jerseys, but he JUST got $250,000 for winning over the Pittsburgh Steelers this past weekend.
