In its never ending quest of ensuring player safety, Commissioner Goodell’s office is asking its officiating crews to be on the look-out for signs of concussions. These part-time employees are now being entrusted with the brains of 3,000 guys. While a positive move, don’t expect player safety to be dramatically improved. Steven believes that if the League is serious, they will put two neurologists, one on each sideline, and those doctors will be the ones looking out for concussive symptoms and make the final call on a players status. Don’t place this important job to over worked high school teachers and lawyers.

Speaking of officials and how games are called Ndamukong Suh had a little sit-down with the bosses at 345 Park Avenue on his week off. He just wants to be sure about what is a good, aggressive play and a penalty. Not sure Suh gets it as he says, “Like I said after the Denver game, I am not going to change the way I play. I feel that the way I am playing, the way I have played in the past is to continue to play within the rules and just have an understanding of what they look for.” Jeff thinks he just wanted an excuse to get to NY and see the Book of Mormon.

Ravens Terrell Suggs takes the Steelers-Ravens game hype to new heights. Suggs told the Baltimore Sun, “There is the Super Bowl and then there is Ravens-Steelers. Everybody will be watching this game.” It is Sunday night football which gives it a boost in North America, but the rest of the world will be at work or sleeping. Jeff is sure that his mom will be watching Turner Classic Movies’ airing of “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies.” Be careful on the hype machine.

Chris Johnson is talking and the guys are wondering Y (or why), he is talking for all the wrong reasons. According to the Tennessean, Chris Johnson said, “You don’t get a big contract over expectations. You get a big contract over things you have done.” When are averaging 2.8 yards per carry and only have 302 yards thru 7 games, you are best off being quiet. Jeff’s new nick-name for Johnson is CJ (Y) Why?
