With Steven in Texas for the holidays, Jeff is joined by childhood friend, Bender who brings his unique NFL stylings to the Rants & Raves Studio.
The two break down the 14 games played through Monday morning with a heavy look towards the playoffs. Bender has gone all-in with the Packers while Jeff fears the mess coming from the Wild Wild Worst if the Seahawks beat the Rams this weekend.
On the tangent side of the ledger, the boys explore unusual ice cream flavors. You certainly will not want to miss the nightmare of Bender trying to run a sound cart (not pretty). Good times all around and Deeds gets his dog!!
Singletary is not “Iron Mike”.
“Iron” Mike is Ditka.
I’m Samurai Mike I stop’em cold.
Part of the defense, big and bold,
I’ve been jammin’ for quite a while,
Doin’ what’s right and settin’ the style,
Give me a chance, I’ll rock you good,
Nobody messin’ in my neighborhood.
I didn’t come here lookin’ for trouble,
I just came to do The Super Bowl Shuffle
The movie was “The 5th Element”.
It was NOT Chris Rock, it was Chris Tucker.
You’re not doing well this week.
The AFC is not going through Heinz Field.
The Patroits have the #1 seed.
…and how high of a seed in the NFC do the Bears have to get before you guys give them some respect? #2 is not high enough I guess.
Here is how the play-offs are going to go on the NFC side.
Saints at Rams – Saints win
Packers/Giants at Eagles – Packers or Eagles win
Saints at Falcons – Saints win
Packers/Eagles at Bears – Bears win at home AGAIN against either team
Saints at Bears for NFC championship. This one could go either way, really.
Saints or Bears v Pats – Pats win a close game either way.
I have a friend from the Philippines and they don’t have normal ice cream like here in the US (they are strange flavors) one I believe is corn ice cream- with pieces of corn. Eew.
Steven/Jeff, I think the winner of the challenge games should make their own sickest flavor of ice cream and make the other eat it. I would pay to see that =D
Fun show!
I think I must be the only Chargers fan that isn’t that keen on Norv leaving. The way I see it, with Oakland and Kansas on the rise, changing the coaching staff will not help the team in the next 2 years or so. Change now and it could be 5+ years before we are back in the playoffs.
With Norv, Ron and most of the current players, and a second team schedule, I actually feel ok for next season (assuming there is one). After that, who knows. Also the special teams better hadn’t kill us in the first 5 games again next year!
I doubt Norv will be leaving, he’s an offensive genius and has a really good relationship with AJ Smith & Rivers. That said, Ron Rivera may leave, creating a huge hole in the best defense in the nfl. I’m hopeful for next year, but this season has been a bitter disappointment.
We had such a soft schedule, and yet have nothing to show for it. All credit to the Chiefs who were solid all year – but really, how many good teams have they beaten? None. The only decent team they played was Indy, and they lost that one. Whereas San Diego played two or three very good teams, but had practically the same schedule and screwed it up instead. What a waste.
Just finished listening to the podcast… the Colts didn’t rush for 98 yards- they rushed for 191! And I was really bummed that you didn’t talk about Peyton Manning’ 27 yard run- that was awesome! Peyton hasn’t looked that happy all season…
P.S.- Peyton Manning only needs 18 more completed passes to break the NFL record for most passes completed in a season and 3 TDs for 400 total TD passes. You guys think it will happen on Sunday?
