Get ready for the longest show ever! Jeff and Steven approach the three hour mark with this Episode, as they are joined by NFL’s East Coast BMOC and NFL Network Insider Jason La Canfora. Jason pulls back the curtain and reveals how he really is never off the clock to bring you some of the games biggest stories. Jason and the guys discuss the latest NFL News, like the firing of 49ers OC Jimmy Raye, the Bills releasing QB Trent Edwards and what is happening with the kicking situation and Garrett Hartley in New Orleans and Jason gives a shout out to the U.K. listeners and pledges his allegiance to Leeds.
The guys then get to the sixteen games during Week 3 and have plenty to say about all of them. Steven rants on the horrible decision by Saints head coach Sean Peyton to try a field goal on 1st and 10 from the Falcons 11-yard line while Jeff shows some love to Da Bears! Steven shows he is the Smartest Man Alive and explains he did not pick the Cowboys because he was being a homer, but because the timing was right and shows how there are some teams in the NFL that cannot be beaten when they do not commit curial turnovers and costly penalties. Just ask the Packers and their club record 17 penalties against the Bears on Monday Night.
The guys start to get a little loopy as the show approached midnight, but they were able to finish it off as Jeff was able to give you his reason for changing his pick to the Jets over the Dolphins. Yes it had to do with Braylon Edwards’ beard and Jeff explained the significance of Braylon shaving it off.
Bet Jason’s happy with Leeds!!! 4-1 up at half time at home vs Preston.. lose 6-4 … LMAO
oh and by the way this season is INSANELY good the best yet in my opinion!!!
season of nflrandr i mean (sorry for the triple post! )
Another very entertaining show. Thanks guys!
I would like to point out to Steven that a lot of the need for quarterbacks to just run around in skirts is due to his boyfriend Troy Aikman. Just saying. He brought a lot of attention to the fact that a QB should be given special treatment.
In the podcast you guys mentioned a Vick explosion (Vicksplosion?), but I really think that while I was weeping in the stands Sunday I was witnessing a Garrard implosion rather than a Vicksplosion. Although Vick is looking good against a soft secondary, Garrard’s implosion created a black hole that sucked the life of the entire Jag team.
Hasn’t Vick learned to stop abusing animals???
Jeff did make me laugh really hard this episode. His claim that he can now do his own post on the website reminded me of the little boy in Big Daddy claiming, ” . . . but I can wipe my own a$$!” Funny stuff, Jeff.
Speaking of funny stuff, Steven punching Jeff . . . funny! Jeff slitting throats . . . not funny.
And one last thing. During the Jason interview did anybody else notice the sound of water in the background? The kind of sound made by, oh, I don’t know, a certain kind of water pipe–used for tobacco only, of course. Very peculiar.
Steven should listen to/read some Brian Clough (legendary Nottingham Forest Manager (Football/Soccer!)) quotes, particularly the one where a reporter asks Cloughie what would happen if a player ever questioned his tactics or decision making:
“If I had an argument with a player, we would sit down for twenty minutes, talk about it and then decide I was right”
Made me think of it when Jeff was discussing the Steelers homer on faceboook, and how Steven had to prove his point!
Cloughie has some amazing quotes, another favourite being:
“I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one”
Some similarities appearing to Mr Miranda here….! Check out some of his quotes on youtube, makes for some entertaining viewing.
Great show lads, I listen in every week (twice) and love it to bits. Thanks.
“I don’t speak Swiss” Jeff… neither do the Swiss!
Enjoyed this show a lot.
Great recap of Week 3 guys. Steven, you were right on with your rant of my Saints for I felt the exact same way.
Question for you Jeff: What movie or show did you get that hilarious clip of the child busting out “Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?” I want to use that clip in future postings elsewhere when applicable.
I really enjoyed this show, thanks guys. And I didn’t mind the extreme length as I was on an even longer flight :-)
@ J-Ville Jason – that odd sound you describe is an incoming Skype call, so I guess they do the interviews on Skype and had someone calling in during it.
@Buford – that clip is actually Steven’s daughter, who made her debut a couple of shows ago!
