Steven and Jeff are back it with a look at Week 2. The guys discuss some NFL news, including the league sending out an memo to the teams regarding proper conduct around media, Lions QB Matthew Stafford out with a shoulder injury, QB Kevin Kolb does not pass the concussion test given to him and another missed practice by the Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth. Steven has some interesting comments regarding Ines Sainz and her issue with the Jets.
The guys then focus on the 16 games on the Week 2 schedule and they include some great games. The Manning boys, Peyton and Eli, are at it again in Indy and the Colts can ill afford starting the season 0-2. QB Tom Brady hates the Jets and this week he gets to tell them that in person. The Bengals, with Batman (Terrell Owens) and Robin (Chad Ochocinco) look to upset the Ravens at home, while potential playoff teams, like the Vikings, Cowboys, Chargers and Falcons look to avoid 0-2 starts.
The guys discuss Michael Vick getting the start for the Eagles against the Lions. If he has a big game, will head coach Andy Reid pull him out of the starting lineup when Kolb is healthy again? The guys only disagree on one game this week, making the Chiefs at Browns the Challenge Game for Week 2. Plus Steven starts a new segment, “This I Guarantee!” in which he makes a couple predictions regarding the games. This week his predictions include RB Chris Johnson and WR Randy Moss vs CB Darrelle Revis.
I think that the sexist behavior of the Jets is disgracefulness. They need to treat women as if they were equal.
good one, cootey :-D
Just one tip for Mr. Mark Sanchez and the NY Jets for that matter:
Please keep your mouths shut until you a) Officially Dethrone the Patriots from the top of the AFC East. b) Represent the AFC in this years superbowl. c) Complete higher than 60% of your passes or at least throw for 3 TD’s. The Jets are starting to make me sick with all this trash talking.
I think Jeff had the funniest and most outlandish quote of the show. When discussing the blackout in San Diego he said, “Jacksonville fans don’t travel that well.”
Really??? I know this is their first blackout since ’04, but shouldn’t the California residents in the area take some ownership instead of blaming the opposing team? C’mon, who doesn’t want to see their team open the first home game up by beating the snot out of a visiting team?
Oh, wait, people love when that happens. Just look at the way college schedules are set up at the opening of the season. The major market universities get to beat up on some out of state community colleges to please their fan base and sell out their opening game.
Maybe Oct. 3 Kansas City will send 12,000 fans to San Diego and they will avoid the blackout.
Anyway, that’s my rant. My rave is that you guys always put together a quality and informative show packed full of entertainment. Thanks for all you do.
Also, any fantasy players that have not checked out the ffbuddy.com need to do so. The weekly cheat sheet is phenomenal and Steven’s over the top willingness to help you with your team is unrivaled. Go sign up right away!
Bears are going to beat the Cowboys. Here is why.
1) Urlacher is back to 06 form – He had a year off. He looked GOOD vs. the Lions. He can cover the whole short zone by himself.
2) Peppers is a Monster. Good luck blocking him.
3) Cutler is getting it done. He may not be the best QB in the league, but he is ever bit as good as Romo.
4) Forte can score on a screen. Bring your pass rush and your blitz. Forte will be taking screens to the house.
5) FGs – Go ahead and let this be a close game. Gould is money (#3 most accurate all time with #1 and #2 not playing in conditions anywhere near Chicago). Cowboys kicker is not likely to be an all pro, or employed week 3.
This reporter who’s making all these complaints about the NY Jets players – frankly it screams “I want attention!!!”. Bill Simmons said the same in his column today, I totally agree with him,
And I don’t even like the Jets, they’re cocky and Sanchez isn’t the player most people think he is. He might become that in the future, but right now he’s an average starting QB. His stats prove this.
thanks for picking the RAIDERS Steve and Jeff!!
Patriots ROCK! You love them!

what you guys said about how vick’s O-line should be given some big ups cos they have to work harder to keep him upright
come on
he covers their failures with his freakish ability to move around
what will happen is that vick might just be the perfect quarterback for an offense without good pass blocking. mcnabb had people in his face, so did kolb. what did vick do? you wanna pressure me? take 100 yards up urselves and I think now that he has his mojo back he’ll be the old Falcons franchise guy, with a better supporting cast (on offense at least)
great shows btw
love the up in frequency can’t get enough of em
Hey guys never commented here before, been listening to the podcast for a couple of months.
