Reminder that this list is dynamic and will be updated every Tuesday throughout the season. There is no set number of teams allocated to any particular level. It is possible for there to be 32 gold teams or 32 colorless teams. The tiered ranking is completely based on my discretionary view of the league at that moment. It is my belief that on the day of posting, any team ranking higher would likely beat the team ranked lower if they met on a neutral field. Feel free to leave your feedback.

Hey I like the rankings, but possibly a way to improve them would be arrows up or down to signify if a team has moved up or down the rankings from the previous week. Keep up the good work and get ready to move the Bengals up to the top of the rankings.
I’ll try to spice the look up a bit next week. Was going to make comments and such, but still recovering from Sunday’s adventure to San Francisco.
Comments would be a cool addition.
How sad to see the Colts at the bottom and the Patriots at the top. I might flip the Steelers and the Eagles (are you counting Vick in or out?), and maybe Cincy and Cleveland, but then again maybe not. Hmmm….interesting. Good job, Jeff. I do like the arrows idea in the first comment.
As much as I’d like to dispute the Seahawks position we are AWFUL , but hell at least well get the number 1 pick in the draft next year I we keep playing like this and that can only mean one thing goodbye TJax
Good work Jeff always a interesting read
Dear Jeff,
Some comments (and arrows), as mentioned above, would be nice. I am sure you have well-reasoned arguments for each of your rankings but I`m a bit non-plussed as to why the Steelers fall 4 places after scoring a 24-0 shutout of the (admittedly awful) Seahawks. I agree Pittsburgh would (probably) lose to all your Golds but don`t think they`d lose to all your Silvers (the Texans and Eagles? Really??).
Keep up the good work. Discovering your show has revitalised my interest in the game and for that I`m immensely grateful.
This is much better than last week…GO BILLS!!
The funny thing about early-season power rankings is that they really don’t matter. :) If you ranked teams according to how they are really doing (as well as who they are playing against and when) then you’d have a funky looking list that has the Patriots and Packers at the top followed immediately by Detroit and Buffalo?!? But, since the creators of such lists have memories that go beyond the TWO weeks that have been played… the Lions (and Bills?) maybe don’t land on the list where they might … if it was only based on the performance through two games.
I’m sure my Bills will get bumped up this week… definitely if (WHEN) then win.. but even if it’s just a close game. They have surprised even me, I must say, with their offensive performance(s). Leading the league in rushing, while their QB is tied with Tom Brady (and Matt Stafford?) for the league lead in TD passes… fascinating. :)
Thanks for doing the list. They’re always fun. (And fun to complain about. …..) :)
Talking proud!!
Im a Jet fan and i think you have us a bit too high on that list, think id have the Packers number 2 and Saints 3, but id love to hear your reasoning Jeff for the Jets being at Number 2,
