Steven and Jeff get ready for the biggest weekend in the NFL, the Divisional Round Playoff Weekend. First off, they look at some NFL News, as the Browns look to hire Pat Shurmur as their next head coach, Antonio Cromartie calls Tom Brady a naughty word, and Brady just says let’s just play the game, the Broncos interview John Fox and the Vikings offer to pay for one-third of roofless stadium, which gets Jeff all fired up.
The guys then get to the four games in the Divisional Round. On Saturday, the guys agree on both games as they think the Steelers will win at home against the Ravens, and the Packers will upset the Falcons in Atlanta. On Sunday, the guys disagreed on both games, until Steven called Tricia in for some help and jumped to the Patriots, leaving the Seahawks at Bears game as the lone game the guys disagree on. Steven thinks the Seahawks will ride their swagger into Chicago and pull off another upset, while Jeff does not believe the Bears will be fooled again.
That leaves it as the Challenge Game, as Jeff takes the 10 point favored Bears and Steven rides with the underdog Seahawks. If Jeff loses this one, he is assured of some punishment at the Super Bowl!
I don’t see what you guys see in the Packers as well as all the other pundits. A guy has a good day running the ball and all of a sudden the packers have a running game. Come on!
Atl already beat the packers once and will do it again.
Falcons by two TD’s
Figured I’d make my picks for the weekend here. I tied with Steven last week at 2-2 and I gained a game on Jeff, so for the season, I believe I’m 5 games back. Probably won’t be able catch him as there aren’t enough games left.
This week I’m taking the Steelers, Falcons, Bears and Patriots, so I guess that means I’m taking all the home teams.
Hopefully the live chat will be up again this weekend.
You guys are clueless about the Falcons (as always). Contrary to what you think, Michael Turner has had an awesome year. He’s #3 in rushing, #1 in the NFC. Snelling hasn’t taken over as the goalline back. Although he’s been targeted on screens and check-downs in the red zone frequently, his total of 5 tds (2 rushing, 3 receiving) is less than half of Turner’s 12. Steven’s recap of the game and how it ended was pretty inaccurate. Although you were definitely looking at the scoring/drive summary, you must not have really watched this game. Either that or your memory isn’t as great as previously mentioned on the show. And knowing that Jeff’s memory is amazingly bad, why does he even mention ANYthing with certainty? Matt Ryan has never, ever said that they are unbeatable at the dome. Not after they beat the Packers, not after they beat the Ravens. If you honestly saw any interview with Ryan you would notice that week in and week out he is constant on one position: “Nothing is guaranteed.” That being said, the reasons I think the Falcons will win are five-fold, Atlanta’s #2 in time of possession, #3 in turnover differential, #3 in 3rd down %, they’re the least penalized team in the NFL, and they are playing at home. I see the Falcons putting together long, clock eating drives, making the GB defense tired and finishing them off late like last time.
OH Robbie, don’t get your panties all wadded up! Hope you don’t disappear next week after your team loses. Make sure you come back for a helping of crow!
Why did I just type “www.nflrandr.com/Boobs” to see the 404 error message?
I usually don’t do the pickem stuff for games, so I am just going to list who I am cheering for this weekend and who I want to win:
Steelers (of course, duh!) , Packers, Bears and Jets
I want my boys to be the ones to shut up Rex this year, not the Empire :-)
I also hope very much the live chat thing is up and running this weekend, too. Last weekend was so fun!
Great show as always, guys…
My Picks for this week
Ravens over steelers
Falcons over Packers
Patriots over jets
Seahawks over bears
No way atl looses to the packers
Steven,
My panties aren’t in that big of a wad. Everything I said was the truth. I did conjecture as to how I think the Falcons will win, but the points I mentioned throughout my comment are based on facts. I won’t be disappearing anytime soon. I will occassionally get irritated with some things you guys say and refrain from listening for a few episodes, but I have yet to disappear. I just have a problem with Jeff, who we all know has a horrible memory, remembering interviews that never happened, and using it as an intangible contributor to the demise of a team I have great dedication to.
As for the crow, I don’t mind, but I still see Aaron Rodgers leaving Atlanta with an 0-3 record against the Falcons as a starting QB.
Hey guys,
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this podcast. I think it was probably your best for a very long time, you just seemed to enjoy doing it.
And jeff; “Thats my point”
Hey Robbie – look at the score board! Go ahead and get irritated with me again!
“And poof! Just like that, he’s gone.”
Jeff’s memory, Steven’s cockiness (confidence?), Jeff blaming ESPN for all his bad stats, Steven’s undying faith in the Cowboys, and the way they stretch a 30 minute show into 2 hours is all a part of the charm of Rants and Raves!
I wonder what happened to Bay Area Dirty Bird and Robbie. Come on guys, how about coming back and saying, you know what Steven & Jeff, “You guys were right about the Packers vs the Falcons game!” I’m just saying…
